I have to admit, last time I saw Detrimentum I thought they were rubbish. Blasphemy! Detrimentum are fantastic, I honestly believe they're one of the few UK death metal bands around at the moment who really have something that stands out about them. Infected Disarray, Corpsing and Diamanthian being the other really good ones. I will have to say though that the UK could really do with another Bolt Thrower or Carcass though.

There is only one Bolt Thrower and they need to tour more! Greatest metal band ever! I love Bolt Thrower, so much that my mrs looks like Jo Bench ;D haha, they definetly need to play live more, I've never seen them. Any chance you'd be able to get them on at Reanimator, after all, they're still local to Brum (I think?) and I'm sure you'd make the money back on a local crowd alone! I didn't mean that the world needs clones, there's a few BT clones around at the mo, I just meant that the UK could do with another band of that kind of status.

BOLT THROWER ARE FROM COV!
It is a shame that UK metal is currently dominated by its US and scandinavian counterparts in terms of bands that have a good headlining status.
I was going to list some out, but didn't get very far:
Electric Wizard Bolt Thrower Naplam Death Akercocke Cradle Of Filth (teehee) Sabbat Orange Goblin ummm ummm Iron Maiden? ha

A few of us took a trip up to Bradford to see them on the 'For Those Still Loyal Tour' it was awesome. Well BT were not Bradford.
They were going to play Birmingham that tour but turned up to Eddies for a gig and decided not to in the end, due to poor turn outs.
Yeah some members dont live to far from JP I believe in Leamington?
I would love to get them to play Reanimator, Sadly with venue owners trying to rip off the little man its unlikely to happen. Would be funny to see them play at The Pear.

I reckon it would be worth an ask, worst that can happen is they say no and imagine if they said yes! It amused me when at the pub I used to work in Leam a few of the locals would catch me in my BT shirt and they would not only know who they were but that they were from around Cov/Leam area!

for a start, people including myself (untill me first paycheque) needs to stop downloading. But thats not going to happen really, even in tape trading days there was more effort towards buying a band merc or cds than nowdays becuase it was harder than just typing whatever you want into a search button, you had to post people, meet people and so on.
Plus if there really was going to be a "big" band in birmingham all you would have to do is make thrash riffs (piss-easy) wear some silly medical uniform and have silly "funny" lyrics... walla a popular metal band in birmingham.... but does that mean there going to get sucess not just in the "local scene"? I doubt it.
people like B.T and N.D made it becuase they played the right music at the right time becuase in the early 90's deathmetal was much more popular than now, its finding the next thing.... but something that doesnt mean you have to have a silly haircut and have an album cover in white black and pink with someone shooting themselfs in the head and a load of flowers, lillys and hearts come spilling out of the head...
did that make any sense?

Some of it made sense. Some of it was a bit badly spelled

I think the way that people view music means that it's getting harder and harder for a band to attain that level of status - people are treating music as something transient, it's all gotten a bit throw-away. Most people who go to Reanimator absolutely cherish it, but we're in the minority I think. People just don't care enough.

I think Reanimator will slowly and I mean slowly win.
We have come pretty far in a year, Nobody would of thought in a year, We have booked bands from abroad (well ok France,Sweden and... Ireland) Got reviews in mainstream mags, Done a alldayer successfully.
Slowly other people are coming from afar for our gigs and we have some exciting acts for next year, the next season as I like to call it is upon us.

To go from the seed of an idea, based on being dis-satisfied with what the local scene could offer, and actually doing something about it (and making it work) is pretty damn impressive.
The next step is to get some kind of Fight Club organisation sorted out, with Chapters in different cities...
