Heh, you probably wouldn't expect me to suggest anything good, but you should definitely try :
Mercyful Fate (if you don't know them already) Rotting Christ : Thy Mighty Contract and Non Serviam Ulver - Bergtatt Destroyer666 - Phoenix Rising
They're all reasonably melodic....

(chokes on coffee at Billy's suggestions)
Mmm melodic, that's one way of describing them I guess.... ;D
What are you already into Crysannia?

Or even check out any of the Arcturus albums, I reckon you might well find something to your tastes there....

i have la masquarade infernel by arcturus...its good:) got my brother one of theirs for chirstmas ... he loves it! erm.. i currently own a reasonable sized CD collection ranging from some thrash to ska, punk, goth, eighties, (some) EBM, classic rock, (a fiar bit of) power metal and a small ammount of death metally style stuff(for some reason i even own a zyklon album!). I tend to like a bit of everything really more recently ive been listening to Wintersun, Sonata Arctica, Sinergy and Children of Bodom alot....but id kinda like to listen to some more slightly erm... serious music??! Im just not a fan of extensive percussive vocals and non stop blast beats with undiscernable melodies.. discovered Death...like them alot...and Omnium Gatherum. so any suggestions really would be good:) thank you:) Oh and Bill....what was the name of that band i really liked...and their two album titles....and where can i buy them! I'm a homo....yes ive forgotten completely! hope u remember which one im on about!

Winds. The two albums are Imaginary Direction of Time and Reflections of the I. There's also an early EP, but that comes on some editions of Reflections of the I. You can probably get them both fairly easily, but www.supernalmusic.com has them both I think.

Dissection perhaps? I'm not really into anything more melodic than that ;D

Try Kataklysm - Serenity In Fire, its kinda Death Metal with easily discernable melody and some good fist pumping bits, is also said to be a bit metal by numbers though, i would say its worth checking out if you like ya melody. Carcass - Swansong is kinda melodic At The Gates - Slaughter Of The Soul All obvious choices i suppose but if you already know of these i could do some music-recon for you, but im having trouble looking because to me Wyrd and Burzum (aske) seem melodic but thats because of listening to Black Metal far too much

I'd also recommend Kataklysm... if you want some death metal thats also melodic check out a band called Avulsed also... maybe also At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity - and if you fancy something a but different someone like Finntroll or even The Meads of Asphodel..?

Tried Soilwork yet? Predator's Portrait and Natural Born Chaos are the most accessible, Steelbath Suicide and Chainheart Machine are heavier but still good earlier stuff... avoid Figure #5, its a bit too nu-metal (I still like it, but then I suck )
