Definitely not, it is just something done by the spineless. I admit that using a pseudonym could be viewed the same way, but everyone knows who I am.

Definitely not, it is just something done by the spineless. I admit that using a pseudonym could be viewed the same way, but everyone knows who I am. but that's bollocks for example it is DAMN funny the way chops and people like that talk about Black As Da Night and needing the Thambulance:p I find it funny and yes everyone does know who chops is and what he means by it but if racism to any extent is not meant to be tolerated on here, then those jokes should not really be here. So if it is 'spineless' to post anonymously (sp?), then as you point out, it IS equally spineless (not 'could be viewed the same way' but, actually, 'is') to use a pseudonym. A pseudonym by nature is to avoid using a real name and if anything creating a false identity and so on and so on. I mean, i know you say 'everyone knows who i am' -> you really cannot honestly say you know that. Not everyone here has been introduced to you - their loss, yes:p but come on>what you say is simply not true. and also, if 'everyone knows' who you are, why didnt you just use your name in the first place instead of some actually quite fascist-sounding name (i don't give a fuck if it's a song title or what - it's appalling. Wagner? Antichrist? come on, that's ignorant at best). Anonymous posting is at most comparable - but unlike a pseudonym, it can be used just because one didnt have the time to sign in (see 'Charlotte in a hurry ), or because some gay technical aspect of computer somethings means you cannot 'view' the neccessary pages and crap to register (if you wanted to anyway), or you're sitting there as a person who is registered and just signed in,with several things open at once and you're viewing something on this forum and then by the time you get to actually posting something it doesnt tell you you have now timed out, before you have spent possibly a massive amount of time typing out a post - then it tells you, on clicking 'post reply', that you are signed out and you lose everything you just did when you go back to the post page- which for someone like me with linguistic and dylexic trouble is A FUCKING PAIN. I do understand the point of someone like Charlotte, who despite being zealous with her moderator thing, has reason to say it is better that everyone is registered because then people who are genuinely being hellish can be banned/whatever but not really: anyone banned can just make up a different name, or if the ban was more extreme, make a different email address, and if more so, could just use a different computer altogether. To me it really is something that cannot be policed in the way i could understand one would want to - it's better just to let it go and make it clear to said twat how unwelcome they are - the gay garys of this world for example. My last point to contribute here is this - even if it is spineless (wagnerantichrist) or just so people like me can 'sneak around like [we] always do' (deathuk;) bisous bébé ), then i put this to you - what the hell is wrong with that? what's wrong with a little mystery, some intrigue, whatever why the hell this need to know everything about everyone and trace people and so on and so on come on - have some interest and questions in your life i thought you were a philosophy student

The point really isn't about who someone is, but seeing what posts are by the same person. I agree with you on some points, but there is an option simply to leave the computer logged in forever, plus it takes about 10 seconds to sign in on a foreign computer.
I put this to you : What is your need for intrigue?
P.S. What is fascist about Wagner Antichrist? Especially as he is a member of a vehemently anti-fascist band...

I can ban I.P. addresses on this aswell so that would largely put out Johnny, but I don't want to, if people like intrigue then so be it but I think it says a lot about their personality (good or bad whatever). So I leave things as they are. I am in favour of MINIMAL moderating on forums unless there is truly offensive stuff, otherwise it just comes across as oppressive and unwarranted power-wielding. It is an open "forum" where people can voice their views and discuss things. If you don't like it, you are not obliged to read it!

yeah, its like people who complain about unsuitable tv programmes, films, music, etc. if you dont like it, no ones forcing you to watch/listen to it!! i think as long as it doesnt get into a personal attack on any one, or specific group of people then its ok. cant expect everyone to agree all the time, how boring would the world be then?

Personally, it doesn't annoy me. Well, it annoys me when I do it because my all-important post count suffers but beyond that, people have been largely sensible. In fact, the only "offensive" post I can think of came from Rawhide (?), and he was/is a registered member. That he since apologised is neither here nor there for this argument, since an unregistered user can do that.
I agree with Nick on the point of having an open forum. Most users here are intelligent and eloquent enough to string together an argument to someone who "spinelessly" espouses views others may not agree with. But I render that largely void in a sense that, as far as I know, most people on this forum turn up to the nights, so a face can be attributed to a name. Spam or other junk like that can be attended to on an individual basis by the moderators but really, is there any need for a great deal of moderation on this specific forum? I know Charlotte locks threads every now and then but that's because they're getting grossly off topic, away from an important subject like track requests. Again, the only time I've been disinclined to agree with that was on the thread where Rawhide said something about nuking all the arabs (memory's a bit sparse on this one), but that's just personal preference.
As a mod on the RockSoc forums, I don't choose to moderate other peoples posts I prefer to let people see everything. If someone's being a knob, they can be pointed at and laughed at. Or argued against. Or whatever. I'd also like it if we allowed guest posters to get round the intimidation factor for freshers...
