According to a posting at the Polish music web site CGM.pl, former VADER drummer Krzysztof "Docent" Raczkowski (a.k.a. Doc) has passed away at age 35. No further details about his death are currently available. [UPDATE: This has now been confirmed by VADER's official web site, Vader.pl]
In a March 2005 statement announcing Doc's departure from the group, VADER frontman Peter said, "Doc pretty hard tried to 'fight' against his weaknesses, which were troubles for all of us. Finaly he had not prevailed over that battle... All in all, he attempted. . . VADER today is not just a friendship anymore — it's our life with armies of man involved in music, releases and — first of all — fans waiting for shows or new albums... This is a high responsibility, not too many know about. If a person, even the most talented one, cannot stand it — [he] has to leave... That was Doc's decision as well."
In an April 2005 interview with AbrasiveRock.com, VADER guitarist Mauser elaborated on Doc's "weaknesses," stating, "He had a problem with alcohol and this is the problem. Maybe in the future, if he will be alright, he may be back in the band. Maybe someday. We will see what happens."

Heard about this the other day. Pretty sad, as he was too young and a talented drummer, no matter what his problems were.

He certainly had the look of someone who had a substance abuse problem... he had a proper haggard face... like he'd chewed too many lemons...

Sorry to go off topic, but while you're online can I ask about material for tonight?
You mentioned elsewhere that I'd be DJing with Ian. Do you want Black Metal, or more rockin stuff?
I haven't had chance to copy everything from tape, but I've got enough for a bitchin set of Classic Rock, groovy Metal, and a bit of Thrash for good measure.
To give you a rough idea, it includes (the old) Pentagram, Ritual (again, not the BM band!), Testament, Saxon, Slayer, Orange Goblin, Iced Earth, Twisted Sister, Sabbat (UK) etc.
Or I could just play some Black Metal. Up to you.

Up to you, dude! I'd bring both and then play what you feel like / what the audience looks like it'd enjoy most (unless you're feeling vindictive... then I'd play what the audience would HATE most) Should be rocking either way We've got some requests for BM on the 24th thread... and I'm requesting some Twisted Sister right now!

It's probably Burn In Hell, because I didn't have time to do a crazy mix of I Wanna Rock and Fear Of The Dark as planned!
I'll check the other thread and see what I can come up with before I get the bus. I'm hoping to be there early again to do a bit of shopping (read: probably end up in Scruffies!) if anyone wants to meet up.
