Title says it all, recommend me some bands, preferably tending towards the more obscure. Thrash, black, doom, old school death metal, anything really, but no power metal or brutal death metal please!

I've actually always been VERY interested in hearing this band, mainly due to other projects that the members have participated in, but never got round to it.
And I'm definitely up for checking out anything that anyone recommends me - just as long as people think its good! There can never be enough music!

Deceased are slowly growing on me, Atheist aswell, oh and Pestilence VON are fucking great, same with the old Christcrushing Hammerchainsaws of Bestial Mockery. Do you mean One as in the project of an Anaal Nathrakh member, or The One? Pestilence are great, the first 3 albums are awesome and Piece of Time is a quality thrash album. Been meaning to check out Unquestionable Prescence for some time, how does it compare to the first one? I've gotta admit to being totally ignorant on the Deceased front - I've heard loads about them but never heard them - any recommended releases or comparisons? |

Firstly: YAY you haven't heard any Calvarium! I have "horns of hate" which I heard played on snakenet metal radio. it is pretty good. Secondly: I think sadly ethnikk purifikkation IS a band probably I'm a homo.. Damn funny/stupid name. Thirdly: Have you tried any Exsequor?  |

Well, there's nothing about either kriegwar or ethnikk purifikkation on metal-archives or myrrthronth, and an internet search doesn't bring up anything either.
Exsequor was OK, but the programmed drums really ruined anything it might have had. I think this is being rectified soon though? And one of the tracks had a Burzum riff in.

haha yes I think he is having Issa drum on it, but Issa is an odd odd man, and so that might take a while I'm a homo.. If nothing comes up under any searches, then it must be up to Stonefish to enlighten you more I guess. I'm a homo.@burzum riff. I didn't know Burzum had an riffs |

That Burzum riff was not ripped off, its off Filosefum and i hadnt even heard it when i wrote the song. Also, all it is is an arpeggiated A chord, easy coincidence, its hardly like Kanwulf pinching that Black Metal Ist Kreig riff from Strid (check Strid out if you havent, i have heard only one track and was quite impressed, i had it sent to me because off the riff pinching).
Finally Kriegwar and Ethnikk Purikkation - well, Ethinikk Purikkation wont ever be released, and im not too sure about Kriegwar, they are projects of Narqath (Azaghal, Wyrd), try those two bands if you want and you havent heard them and ill ask about Kriegwar.
