Bit of Bilskirnir nostalgia here. This was the evening Barney decided to publicly out Ian as an Emo Bumlord, and then promptly got punched in the balls a few times when the daft drunk finally figured out what was going on.

Wow! I can't remember that, and I think I was at almost all of them... apart from the one with my favourite band! (Incantation)
Was it a viscious punch? I can't Ian ever being unpleasent!

He was pissed up. He got annoyed with Dan (darkthrone Dan who used to be in ET years ago) earlier that evening for taking the piss out of him and he done it to him, so when Barney did that later it set him off again. The thing with Ian is, he's a big bloke and although he comes across as a softie I don't think I'd want to get into a fight with him. The punch wasn't vicious, just weird. He started by hugging Barney, then sort of bending down and swinging his arm under and between his legs. A bit like the "low blow" in WWE wrestling. There ya go...

I heard Noj was sent home from Bilskirnir once for saying Slipknot were thrash! Those were the days, when people were united in elitism and checked out new bands, and I would pass out in the doorway after drinking all The Prophecy's cider. I remember some guy vomiting on himself and pissing his pants on New Years too, I used to have photos until my hard drive blew up

Haha good old Ian! What is he up to nowadays? Didn't he bugger off to Germany then come back or something?

As far as I know, he still lives in Birmingham. It's been a good while since I last saw him though.

I fucking loved those Bilskirnir days, tiny room full of sweat because people would come and see bands no matter what, all sorts of headbanging, fighting and general anarchy, Wayne tea-bagging unconscious guys, Charlotte trying to leap across those little stone blocks by the bull ring and falling off, staying late after the show to get more drunk and singing along to Chesney Hawkes...
There was always something chaotic about the nights that I felt was really metal, totally unpredictable and uncontrolled. Anyone else got any photos from those days? I think we have some from the new year party somewhere.

I wish I still had my photos, those were the days! I was awarded "drunkest person on stage ever" award back then!

Aye. It fucking ruled. And I didn't even attend that many of the shows, but I still had a great time each time I went. It just felt so right, especially compared to being at any of the other club options in the area.

I always loved descending those steps into the cellar and hearing some immensely heavy shit emanating from the room, like descending into the bowls of hell.

I enjoyed DJing there because everyone whined about what I played was too heavy!
