The dialogue in 300 was fucking lame. That fucking narrative at the beginning, where the young Leonidas is hunting, really annoyed me. It's just such a poorly written and poorly read line, trying to be effective and dramatic. The bloke that plays that character (can't remember his name, bloke that played Faramir in LOTR) has a risible voice, sounding somewhere between a mock star-wars emperor and some dweeby old man. I kept expecting him to come out with a one-liner because it sounded so comical.
They didn't need to make Meet the Spartans because 300 was a self-parody.
Anyway, that's by the by. There's plenty of other films that are in need of drubbing.

I'm glad that the trend of putting nu-metal in films is finally dying off. To reinforce what Steve said, there's nothing worse than having to watch a shit film and then to top it off having to listen to some utter crap like Disturbed or Drowning Pool blasted at you after you've suffered what already seemed an insufferable eternity of cinematic dross. Well, I'm not sure it is dying off really. Transformers has ensured the survival of Linkin Park Street Boys and the newer Emo® bands. Transformers and Spiderman 3 are paeans to Emo® faggotry. Transformers irritated me with the first remake when they emo'd up the theme tune from the original rock song. Then the fucking CGI team ruined the whole thing further, making watching the film an exercise in trying to make out the robot amongst all the fuselage and cables from which they seemed to be comprised. Why they couldn't have used that company that CGI'd the Citroen adverts fuck only knows. At least then they'd actually have looked like transformers. Nobody would have given a toss about the potential loss of "realism". To me, Bay looked at the Transformers gift-horse and promptly shit in it's mouth. Michael Bay should probably be restrained and punched on a regular basis. Not just for this film of course.

The only downside of Michael Bay and Uwe Boll fighting to the death is that only one of them would die. Unless they're both given AIDS in advance of the fight.

I agree about The Watchmen though; I thought it was overly long and given that it's supposed to be so intraspective, I don't think it made the transition to cinema all that well. Man, I loved The Watchmen. I think that the graphic novel is superior, but I can't imagine them having made a better film adaption of it, realistically. Only the ending and pirate monologe were altered/removed, and both of these were presumably done to save an extra couple of hours of film time. Otherwise, they didn't fuck with the dialogue, they didn't cast shitty big name actors, and they were true to many of the frames from the book. Agreed. I hate both films. It wouldn't have been hard to get them right.

I have to say, that I've not seen any of those films. I wonder why hollywood still thinks nu-metal is cool?
And I cannot believe that I forgot to mention the new Star Trek film! As many know, I'm a semi-in the closet trekkie, as is my entire family. I went to see the film with my mum, dad and sister who for some reason all thought it was really good. Personally I thought it was a total mockery of what Star Trek has been for over 40 years now! Fair enough, the last couple of films have been kind of action films based in the Star Trek universe, but they've still stayed true to the original ideas and concepts. This new one just threw them out of the window, tarted it up, and threw in some good looking teenagers-in-their-30s having sex (well, lots of underwear scenes and almost having sex), fucking MOTOROLA advertising, a trendy soundtrack, utterly one dimensional characters, and a story so thin it would tear if you pissed on it.
I honestly don't think I've ever felt that angry coming out of the cinema before. Still, I guess on the bright side it's taken 10 brilliant films for them to finally make a really shit one.

I don't know the graphic novel so I judged it purely as a piece of cinema, and it left me a little cold.

I didn't get past the first 30 minutes of The Watchmen. I just didn't like it, the narrations were incredibly forced, the acting poor, and it just did nothing to keep my attention at all.

Haha, I liked the new Star Trek too. To be honest though, I've never cared for Star Trek, so that this film was everything the old ones were not was a good thing for me.
Whilst discussing the worst films ever, it is remiss of me to have not mentioned the Resident Evil series. I'm a big fan of the games, well most of them, and that the films got it so wrong actually pains me. There's no excuse for shit looking zombies in a zombie film. After having seen the first film, I didn't think it'd be possible to do a worse job until I saw the sequel.

I couldn't finish watching The Fast and The Furious, and normally I quite like dumb films with Vin Diesel in. That was pretty poor. Also, I couldn't watch Dude Where's My Car either.
I don't tend to watch films these days because I have a pretty poor attention span, and when I do it tends to be films i've already seen before. Prize for worst film ever though has to go to X Men 3. Absolute turgid dross.

I can't believe I'm the only person who's so pissed off about Star Trek!!!
I've never wasted X-Men, The Hulk etc. Comic book conversions don't interest me at all. Saying that, the last Superman film was pretty dire!

I still haven't seen the new star trek. I'd have to rewatch all the old ones to get a proper perspective, and I don't have the resources to do it at pres. A bit like with fucking everything these days.

I watched 2 a couple of weeks ago, and it didn't do much for me. The only bit that I really liked was the ships hunting each other in the Nebula. The new flick would be like Dawson's Creek in space, if only Dawson's Creek was full of decent action and attractive actresses.
