All whilst sat in the afternoon sunshine, drinking ginger beer and indulging in onion rings. Darkspace - III is a superb record.

Twilight - Monument to Time End
This album is unfathomably brilliant. Easily my album of the year so far, and it's probably wormed its into my top 5.

Inner Sanctum - Frozen Souls (massive order of OUGH) Portishead - Third (Dark, dark, dark. The Rip is one of my favourite songs ever) Helloween - Walls of Jericho (some flowery moments, but mostly a rampager) Sorhin - Skogsgriften Rike Enforcer - Diamonds (still relentlessly dominating my stereo)

Recently been listening to demos from Sonne Adam (killer Israeli death metal... lazy comparison would be Autopsy meets Incantation), and Burial Invocation (killer Turkish DM, Bolt Thrower meets old Grave for more shitty comparisons that do no justice), amidst Inquisition, Dead Can Dance, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Fields of the Nephilim. Portishead - Third (Dark, dark, dark. The Rip is one of my favourite songs ever) Couldn't get into that album at all. About two great songs, and I agree that it's easily their darkest album, but the rest of it just lacked in memorable song writing to me. Kind of meandered and bored me. However, I do respect them for trying something different, rather than taking the easy option and repeating their previously successful formula.

It's by far my favourite of their albums. It's harder to get into than the others because they rely less on one formula. I love the other albums, but this is the most diverse and taut.
Since then: Master's Hammer - Mantras (far from their best, but still mandatory and exciting) Absu - Barathrum (the only really good thing they've put out)
