At The Gates bore me shitless, as do the countless bands that rip them off.

At The Gates = melodic death metal (oxymoron = gay) At The Gates rip offs = metalcore bands (ATG with hardcore influences = gay)
Beat that for scientific formula.

totally agree mate both carcass albums i own are just meh and live they were appalling no offence but its a theme... bender (they were awesome at hellfest) tbh, it's not that I don't like them as such, just that I've never gotten into them. I often find that with bands like that I eventually end up getting it and realising why they're so good. I've still yet to really get into Celtic Frost and Bathory. That's practically sacrilege to the average BM'er. I suppose the main reason for this is that I haven't really listened to their stuff in depth, and the last time I heard it was a looooong time ago.

Check out the later Anael albums, the last one was fantastic and a lot more original than their earlier Samael worship.

All their releases are superb, but the best is definitely the second album I think. Third one, as Wayne said to me the other week, is a real grower.

I've not heard their second one! First and the newest are both great though, but I can understand why people might not like the first one as they hadn't really developed their own sound by then.

I have to admit that I've never bothered checking out Lust. I know everyone says they're great, but that album cover really put me off.

Most of the Lust material is interesting at worst, but the only REALLY good thing is the most recent album; his style definitely needed a bit of refining.

Motorhead are killer... for one album, and then you don't need any more because they're all the same. Same as AC/DC and Status Quo, but I don't like them at all.
