Solitude Aeturnus are boring. I like the new Funebrarum, but loads of better things have been keeping it off the stereo. Like the Argus album, which is great! Doomy heavy metal, with divine and creamy twin leads; a bit reminiscent of Grand Magus at times.
From this I can see how Slayer developed such a fearsome live reputation; easily my favourite live record and it crushes from start to finish. I particularly love the intro to the third track:
'That's what you're here to do, look out for each other....this next song is called WAAAAAARRRR ENSEMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!"
All Slayer up until Divine Intervention is pretty much unbeatable! I hadn't listened to them in ages, but I dug out some stuff over the last couple of weeks and have really enjoyed rediscovering them! I forgot how heavy some of the riffs were - especially Chemical Warfare!
