Novembers Reanimator: you wanted something a bit different - here it is.... First up we bring you SAVAGE MESSIAH. Rising from the ashes of Headless Cross this is razor sharp and savage thrash metal at its most venemous. You can sample them at www.myspace.com/savagemessiahmetalThen we have the progressive death metal of RANNOCH. Weaving brutality and technicality together into a musical tapestry of light and darkness this band provides a listening experience like no other. Hear them at www.myspace.com/rannochWe are then proud to present the mighty HEATHEN FORAY. A pagan metal assault from the shores of the Humber bringing a bastard fushion of english folk and traditional metal with a thirst for blood. Witness their glory at www.myspace.com/heathenforayHeadlining the show all the way from the South of Ireland and making their first ever UK appearance come SIROCCO. These guys play dark, epic metal with influences that range all the way from Bathory to Thin Lizzy. Songs of blood and legend - check them out at www.myspace.com/siroccoband

Nick definitely approves of Sirocco. Clearly this will be epic, and definitely an occasion worthy of both kilt and drinking horn!

The myspace samples didn't interest me much of Sirocco. In fact, of the two main folk themed bands, only Heathen Foray's Instrumental track really appealed. I hope it's just the recording quality that has put me off a fair bit, and they'll be better live. I'm still coming of course. I'd never pass up on a Reanimator.

Did Rannoch play Bilskirnir? Every other month I seem to recall, although under another name I think!

Next week! I'm hoping this will be a really great show. I'd play down the folk influence on most of these bands and instead play up that within their respective genres they're each quite progressive and unique sounding, which is one of the things that attracted me to them. Tath, I'll get you a proper folk-y show one day.. Sirocco are dead excited about playing a show outside of Ireland btw, so please give them a warm welcome.

I do like these bands, maybe it's just the recording quality that doesn't do them enough justice, though? Get Mael Mordha to play and you've got me fo' sho'.

I tried them earlier this year but sadly we couldn't meet their demands to justify getting them over for a one-off. Next time they tour over here it might be a different matter. To hijack the thread further, have a listen to these guys: I'd love to have them over for a show at some point next year.. www.myspace.com/darkestera
