Not commenting on the guys teching, just that studio and live sound are two different skills.

I know, I'm a music production student myself. I plan to move away afterwards and open my own studio. And yes, I HATE live sound, I can do it (well, what I've learnt so far) but I've no particular passion for it.

If you have a problem with Dave just tell him to his face, maybe?.
Constructive criticism I dont mind but none of this school ground bullshit. Bunch of pansies the lot of you sometimes.
What was a cracking gig has been marred by all of your childish behaviour. If any of you have a problem with that come see me next Reanimator.

people are just fooling around with their first impressions of a rather odd, amusing and annoying character, thats human nature....a few pages on an interweb forum can hardly mar an amazing night like tuesday, and I for one was definitely not being scornful or too serious on the matter...and what exactly would you do if someone did ''come and see'' you at a show? beat them up for taking the michael on a forum?

There we have it then a answer for a question nobody ever asked.
Nah "beating up" as you put it... is'nt my style and I need not prove anything to anyone. Im not a neanderthal.
More mearly a suggestion if you have a problem with something come chat to us about it.
Leave the childish schoolyard bullshit off our forums and try and help out posistively.

Well, mostly it is just childish messing around Povey, but I would like to know how you would feel about some other guy cracking onto you girlfiend and/or sister? It's no big deal as nothing happened, but when it was more than obvious Sam was with me, it was pretty disrespectful. As several people have mentioned this problem now, perhaps you need to have words with Dave (is it?) about his attitude towards women at gigs. I also felt the way he acted towards Lee and our general performance was also rude and disrespectful to us. Now, I'm allegedly the most hated person in the Stoke "scene" so I'm more than used to Imindain being slagged off publically, online, as well as being heckled at local gigs, but for someone involved with the actual gig I think it was very unprofessional of him.

From what I can gather, they dude's pretty low in many respects, so maybe slagging him off behind his back is a little harsh. Whilst I can't comment on his professional attitude of late, Dan's right - he can be pretty disrespectful at times, but that's something I've dealt with privately. He's a relatively reasonable guy, and a quiet word will see him leave you and your missus be in my experience. I don't think any word is needed about him with his attitude towards women; as you guys have pointed out, there's not an abundance of soundmen queueing up, so I reckon these matters should be sorted out privately and no more made of it, rather than risk him going off on one and leaving you in the lurch.
Still, sometimes forums are good places to let off some steam without being confrontational.

OK. This is a tricky one as I don't really want to get involved in a discussion like this on a public forum. What I will say is that we are aware that some aspects of Dave's conduct have been less than ideal at recent shows and we've spoken to him about displaying a more professional attitude. Dan, I have to say I agree with you re. his actions during Imindains set, we did have a word with him at the time. I'm sorry about that.
He is also however a decent chap who has really helped us out a lot over the last year, and it is safe to say that without his efforts we wouldn't have been able to run any gigs at all. We don't want him being totally slagged off on our own forum but I think it is viable to state your views on him here as we welcome feedback of all kinds and I guess it's been a bit of a surprise to me that so many of you feel so strongly about him, but it's also been important to get that feedback.
There's not a lot we can do about him chatting up girls by the way... He's cracked onto Charlotte too, he just needs a quiet word of dis-encouragement, like Nick says. I usually take it as a compliment tbh.
Oh, and for the record, I don't think anything can detract from Tuesday night, that gig was fantastic.

Re My Girlfirend... Most people know im pretty laid back and know this kind of thing would'nt bother me and never has, as they are with me. Plus I would be confident in the fact my sister/girlfriend would be polite enough to explain they have a boyfriend point him out or do what Nick did and just have a quick word and introduce yourself. but I accept and know everyone does'nt think like me Whilst I cannot argue what happened to Lee (I have no idea what happened), as I've been on the door recently, but Luke/Bill did have a word with him. Its been said before, we are aware of 'problems' but dont have to many soundmen running to us with open arms atm. But being professional swings both ways.

Why don't you get this dave chap to rub off the easy one before he comes to the gig? Haha! Seriously though, I think that has all just got a bit out of hand now! That's all fair enough about the Lee thing, and to be totally honest, it didn't bother me for the fact it was disrespectful, it bothered me because I didn't want him to get lamped and get us in trouble! Again, about cracking onto Sam, I just felt it was a bit of a disrespectful attitude to take towards women in general (I'm such a feminist haha!) who come to the gigs rather than taking it personally. But like I said, this has got a bit daft and out of hand, so I'll say more on it. I have to agree with Luke though, it was a cracking night and nothing will spoil it. It was certainly one of our better gigs! I had a cracking time, and it was good to play with so many bands I enjoyed, and to actually play with bands who are nice people for a change!

how you would feel about some other guy cracking onto you girlfiend and/or sister? That could be so wonderfully misinterpreted! ;D I think the sound guy is like the tramp that almost every city seems to have. A bit away-with-the-fairies, but kind of an institution. As long as he keeps an eye on the job, he's harmless enough.
