You should do an all-dayer like The Communion used to. 8 bands, a mix of BM, DM, doom, power metal. Could do a mix of local and further-afield bands, or just pick 8 local bands as I'm sure that would be just as easy.
A nice sunny Sunday in August, at The Flapper, beer sunshine and a day of ace bands.

If there's consideration of another BM night, I have a suggestion... Foreign band with a "name" Caina Haizum Deitus Headliner could be Peste Noire, who have recently started playing live, or any number of European BM bands, who would draw a wider crowd from around the country. Caina is depressive BM with some "post-black" elements. He's from Sussex/Hampshire, and is looking to do gigs. Haizum is of course just down the road, and Deitus are from York. As long as there's no problem with Haizum being drenched in blood, we'd do it YES! ;D 3 thumbs up from Tath, despite not having 3 thumbs

Maybe it'd be possible to test the water with a UK headliner, such as Thus Defiled or even <shudder> Abgott. The problematic individuals wouldn't travel for them, but they'd be great in terms of appealing to the local area. No Abgott, EVER. You'd lose sales just for that! Thus Defiled wouldn't be too bad, but I'm still thinking Peste Noire would be a fantastic idea, it'd attract people from all over england and elsewhere, so you wouldn't have to worry about not selling the tickets.

YES! ;D 3 thumbs up from Tath, despite not having 3 thumbs I'm sure the 3rd one wouldn't be a thumb if Peste Noire played...

I'm just awaiting Reanimator-Open-Air Yep don't ever ever ever book Abgott, though from what I've read recently they are getting quite popular. Just released a new album to some good reviews and headlined the Underworld!! Though I've seen them far too many times live and every time they were beyond terrible. Some mates from home were interested in playing at some point, will see if I can get you guys their demo's

You've clearly missed the point... I was talking about getting UK bands to test the water. They wouldn't draw a crowd from all over the UK, so the troublemakers from Scotland and London wouldn't be there. Putting Peste Noire on defeats the object of that, because they WOULD draw that crowd. And no matter what bands say, if it's a big UK Black Metal event, you'll get Nazis there.

I must be the only person who thinks that all dayers suck, but I've stated my reasons for that before.

If they're varied enough, I think it's good. Keep the price low, something for everyone. Good thing about the Flapper is there's somewhere you can go if you don't like a particular band who's playing.

Bad thing about the Flapper is that it's always solidly booked.
Still, not my problem to worry about!!

It's not so much the bands or the venue that prove a problem, it's the getting bladdered at noon and having a hang-over by the time the headliners are on that kills me.

You fucker Haha at least I come down and see if I can last the distance - thrash after a behemoth of a houseparty is not easily suffered, though
