To be fair the could advertise 'Sodom' and people turn up and it's just El Nekro and El Povemachine bumming each other. Nobody could sue for false advertising or be entitled to a refund.

If there's consideration of another BM night, I have a suggestion... Foreign band with a "name" Caina Haizum Deitus Headliner could be Peste Noire, who have recently started playing live, or any number of European BM bands, who would draw a wider crowd from around the country. Caina is depressive BM with some "post-black" elements. He's from Sussex/Hampshire, and is looking to do gigs. Haizum is of course just down the road, and Deitus are from York. As long as there's no problem with Haizum being drenched in blood, we'd do it

No blood issues from me! Natrually we're a little.. hesitant to put on another BM show after the nightmare that was the last one. I know we were probably very unlucky in some of the people who showed up but all the problems combined meant it very nearly was the end of the night - we lost two venues and we ended up paying some of the costs out of our own pockets... which sounds much worse when you consider that we'd made money on the previous two gigs to put towards that show! I'm sure we'll be brave enough to try one again at some point however...

I like the sound of that Tom.
Also next time The Gates Of Slumber are over you guys should snap them up.
There's a band you might be interested in also called Metalloid from Derby. I've not heard them but they're getting some tracks recorded soon and the impression I got from the lead guitarist/mastermind behind it, it won't disappoint. Trad/thrash/power metal. The chap I spoke to is 24 and left India to come to the uk to follow his dream of basically being one of the best metal musicians in England. He told his parents he was coming here to do a degree, but really he came so he could see Iron Maiden haha. He's very pro and I'm very confident he wasn't just bullshitting for the sake of winning kudos.

I mean I read the stuff that happened and got the impression some people may have been offended along the way but I'd've thought that was more down to the people involved rather than more generally because it was a black metal gig, just like someone could come away from a DM, doom or power metal gig offended/whatever. Does that make sense?

You mean the problems were because of the gig itself and the punters it attracted as it was a 'BM' one?
It was one big mess really (imho), but we came out on top which is a credit to us and all the hard work we did with the regulars that helped us out on the moment, It was valuable lesson we all learnt really.

Yeah, some of the problems were circumstancial, like Chapter Eleven being twats, but what lost us the second venue (and got me and earful) was that a load of nazi wankers turned up to the gig and caused trouble. Now I know that a lot of black metal fans are more likely to be into D&D than NF and that this doesn't happen at every black metal show, but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth.

I hope D&D doesn't mean dungeons and dragons!! Thing is, you guys know what you're doing, you've got a good rep, you've encountered difficult circumstances and know how to deal with them now so I wouldn't let negative experiences be a large influence over whether you put on a certain type of gig again. Just my two penneth anyway

It was only one guy, and I haven't seen him at any of the regular shows since. He was from Poland anyway, so chances are he doesn't even live here now...
Black Metal aside, we'd had problems with Eastern European skinheads before!
Maybe it'd be possible to test the water with a UK headliner, such as Thus Defiled or even <shudder> Abgott. The problematic individuals wouldn't travel for them, but they'd be great in terms of appealing to the local area.
