Fine cigars and good scotch on an autumn evening is a rare pleasure.

Yeah, I'm pleased to be moving somewhere which has a nice garden. I need to restock my single malts now, so I can match the quality of those cigars. Some of them were literally half price out there, the Monte Cristo Edmundos are atleast £18 here, and cost just over e10 out there.
I'll have to have you guys down in Brighton for cigar, scotch and music appreciation one weekend.

That would be killer! Do you play poker?

I'm definitely in for that as long as I can drink gourmet beers instead of tarwater.
Poker sounds good too - I'll investigate my diary for a free weekend.

I've only played poker properly once, but I'm sure I could pick it up again. Gourmet beers are fine, I'd probably want a couple in anyway, whisky is best after food.
I'm moving in September and have a week long conference after, so I'd suggest a weekend in October.

Poker is only acceptable to play if you're a cowboy. Outside of that its played by lads, people of stag weekends and online posers who think it make them look cool. If you want to play a stylish game play whist, which is the card game of a gentleman.
Anyway....
I received some Reverend Bizarre and Bible of the Devil in the post today, and have balanced them by playing Necrophagia and Condemned. The council house next door to us is empty at the moment and that means I can play music at ear-splitting volumes as nobody can hear me...

I do like playing whist, actually. I also like Chase the Lady.
However, no card game can equal poker for playing in a dimly lit room with sweating men, cigar smoke and scotch.

Poker has a bad rap these days because it's become so popular, but it's still an excellent and very strategic game.
I think you'll find that Bridge is where it's at Luke.

Bridge is for octogenarian conservatives with Phillipino houseboys and at least 100 letters published in The Telegraph who, regardless of birthplace, speak with New England accent.

I have to admit that I've never been a fan of poker. Or card games in general. I've a few friends who are obsessed by them, but I'd rather sit and talk about heavy metal rather than sit and rub my chin over what cards my friend is lying about having.

Cheeky bugger. I never really considered poker to be an intellectual pursuit though. It just brings to mind sleazy guys, and 10 gallon hats.
