Just love the opening track off The Gallery when he goes, "That's right, you will suffer my PUNISHMEEEENT!" Awesome.
OK boys and girls, just got Clutch - Robot Hive / Exodus, man they're so different to how I remember... And nothing like Come On, Motherfucker on this album which is a shame. Actually, what's the song off? Bill?
And have ordered Death - Sound of Perseverance and Capharnaum - Fractured, as I've heard good things. We shall see...

Have you also heard the Velvet Cacoon 'scandal'? It's probably old news if you're online more than me, which is quite possible! I seem to have been the only person to think that band was pure bullshit from the start. How was that not obvious?! Because Genevieve is fucking great! The whole 'unreleased back catalogue' bollocks did make me a bit suspicious, but I honestly don't think that what they did made them anymore liable to be fake than hundreds of other black metal bands. I do think it's absolutely fantastic that they managed to spin so many people along like that....

That F.K.U album is excellent, big thumbs up from me also. As far as I know its their only release - Maniac Cop was recorded for an album or split that never happened, I think...
Surprisingly I'm also highly appreciative of Dark Tranquillity, although I've not heard the new album. Haven is probably the best 'Gothenburg' album I've ever heard.
Funnily enough I was also looking at the self titled Misery Loves Co. album the other day too.... I too thought it was pretty good 10 years ago or whenever it was released, but sadly it sounds kind of puny now. Their other albums were all dreadful though. Shame.
And just to bring this post full circle.... of the the dudes in Misery Loves Co. now plays in FKU! Small world!

How can you afford all this!? I would love to buy as many albums as you Let's just say that... errrr... Hmmm actually on closer inspection I can't afford this. Student loan helps, and I'm earning £150 a week after tax. Basically, and I'm almost ripping Billy off here, but metal is rapidly becoming one of the most important things in my life after sex (and the person engaged in that act with me) and possibly beer, but beer is made better by metal and that doesn't necessarily work the other way round... think of how many times you've headbanged to fucking Soil in Eddies. Thus, the persuit of more metal (music in general really, Robot Hive is actually a rock album, classic though it is) is the major source of my contribution to Uncle Tony's VAT pit. Oh, and let's not forget petrol Speaking of which, CANNOT WAIT FOR WEDNESDAY!

I second Billy's reply (with the Veles, etc, plus I'd like to know about the SW album too) The reason for Torech's departure is amusing, but I'm not one to gossip, certainly not online. When am I going to meet you Mr Hunter?! We've spoken on many different forums, but never actually in person! I'll be at Reanimator on the 27th, so I'll hopefully see you if you're there. The new SW finally arrived today! I've only had chance to play it twice and i think its the bollocks! easily on par if not better than Strength And Honour. I'd deffinatly recommend you guys picking this up. oh, listen out for the pure deathcrush worship on track 3 (True Blackness). as for us meeting. I'm suprised we haven't spoken before? we've been attending 90% of the same birmingham gigs for the past i don't know how long? not to mention Bilskirnir. i'll have to get someone to introduce us next time there's a gig (Luke, Nick and Ian know who we both are. any volunteers? ) Have you also heard the Velvet Cacoon 'scandal'? It's probably old news if you're online more than me, which is quite possible! I seem to have been the only person to think that band was pure bullshit from the start. How was that not obvious?! To be honest i think i missed a lot of it , if not all of it. I think i was moving house at the time and wasn't online long enough to read through all the propaganda. Care to enlighten me a little?

From what I remember it was something to do with their imaginary Diesel Harp producing the guitar tone (though from their description I think most people guessed it was fake straight away) and the general missleading then taking the piss out of the Black Metal scene! I'm sure someone will know a lot more about it than me Just found this interview on their site explaining some of it: www.velvetcacoon.com/elskrin_interview_english.htmlThough I guess alot of it was just propaganda to get a bit of mystery and intrigue surrounding their album, which form all the reviews I've read is meant ty be pretty superb whatever went on with the recording/band etc. I guess their probably the BM equivalent of Frank Dux (i.e. Bloodsport)

OK, my latest spending spree has resulted in me skulking through the back door with:
Emperor - Prometheus. I really like this, I know it's probably not their best and probably a bit more commercial, but it's still fucking great.
Satyricon - Nemisis Divina. No idea. Greg's recommendation.
Trouble - Run to the Light. Again, no idea, but they were mentioned in the same breath as Down, so I'm looking forward to getting my dirty, dirty paws on it.

Prometheus commercial? How? IX Equilibrium was commercial, but Prometheus is almost completely unaccessible to people who aren't prepared to listen to it over and over again to make sense of it. I bought it on the day it came out, and I still hear bits I hadn't noticed before even now.
Good choice on Nemesis Divina as well, fucking ace album.

Can't remember who it was but they said it was less black, but more metal. And outside of some odds and sods, it's the only Emperor I've listened to, so I'm going off hear-say and limited knowledge...
Gotta wait for them cunts on eBay to send them to me now. Wankers.

It's less black, without a doubt. I wouldn't say it's more metal though, it's very avant-garde. In a lot of ways it sounds more like Peccatum than Emperor (unsurprisingly as Ihsahn wrote it all himself), with the songs shooting off at tangents every few seconds. I've heard a lot of Emperor, so I'm going off a pretty decent knowledge.

Prometheus (and indeed Emperor) is far superior to most black metal in my mind. It's been called commercial because its not all tedious necro shrieking and tinny drums, but its so got so many layers and complexities it ends up pissing all over most stuff in its genre. I admit I'm not a BM fan as a whole, but even I am impressed with this.

my faves are IX Equilibrium and Anthems, I have to admit I find Prometheus hard to get into. Wouldn't go as far as to call ANY emperor commercial though, come on...

IX Equilibrium is commercial in as far as it's ver direct and to the point (for the most part). Warriors Of Modern Death is very commercial, you can't deny that. Additionally, it is superb.
