He got on a bus once and started insulting Greg, and then turned on all of us. He's a loon.

Oh dear.... I'm trying to remain impartial to this guy but you aren't helping Maybe he was jealous because Greg smashes his look in terms of feminimity?

Well the irony of it all was that Greg had just had his hair cut really short - so Dave gets on and leads with, "what's up man, I haven't seen you in like, 6 inches". Madness.
He's probably not a bad guy, I just don't have any good experiences of him to bring up!

I just think he's a fucking embarrassment. Someone get him to sign up here so he can defend himself!

My only problem is that he's been cracking onto my girlfriend and sister, and the fact that he's a useless sound man with shit equipment. The equipment and lack of ability wouldn't bother me as much, it's just that I've heard him make so many bullshit excuses rather than putting his hands up and saying: "I've got an Argos level mixer and it can't put enough power out to keep the signal clean and as loud as it needs to be." That and mic'ing the kick drum on the outside for bands that blatantly use blast beats and fast double bass is dumb.

I'd despise him a bit less if he just got some new trousers and brushed his hair a bit, it's not asking for much!

Our pinstriped trousered friend sits back, not even aware that he should be up there twiddling some knobs. That seems like the sort of thing he'd like, anyway. If you're going to have an incompetant sound-guy, at least have one that has a good ear for a suitable live-mix.

At least get an incompetant sound-guy that has a good ear for a suitable live-mix. It's more of a problem finding one who has a PA to bring as well, let alone a decent one, otherwise I'd have offered my (incompetent) services long ago.

I guess that is the problem, you need someone who has their own equipment, can set it all up do the sound and take it away for not much money, hence we have our "pinstriped trousered friend". He does do an ok job I've heard a lot of worse sound guys, but I guess he's the same as a lot of others I've come across who set up a band then go to the bar and don't keep a constant eye on it all. Would be cool if we could get someone like Mick from the Jailhouse in Cov to do it (last time I saw him he works for the colli!), he always did an amazing job, but doesn't have his own pa kit

The pure fact of the matter is that without Dave, there would have been no Reanimator gigs. There would have been no Hell Militia gig as he really helped the guys out with that, and say what you will about that gig, people are still talking about it!
He's hit on me more times than I can count - one of these days he'll catch me in a really bad mood...

Yeah, as everyone has summed up, the problem is finding someone cheap, who is easily bookable and has their own equipment. We'd love suggestions - we don't have many options really, especially given that we make very little money, and like to pay the bands as much as possible. Dave has helped us out on many occasions, and some of the issues with sound come down to the bands, as Dave only does vocals and bass drum.

I might add that I've recorded in Dave's studio 3 times and been very satisfied with the results.

Although it's been pointed out to me that just because someone is a decent studio engineer it doesn't necessarily hold that they will be a great live engineer.

This is something everyone should know, they are quite literally different worlds! No-one is saying it isn't hard, just that he has a tendency to wander around blissfully ignorant that his PA is feeding back and the front row are all covering their ears in pain. That and the fact that he talks out of his backside.
